Oli and I are in a comic-dvd-internet cafe with two person leather booths (and yes, there are lots of them), fighting over the keyboard. Oli now has Sumo on the TV so I`m allowed to type. This is a quick entry in case anyone thought we:d fallen off a skyscraper, we promise to update more and add pictures with us in them for Dave very soon.
It:s been an insane few weeks. We arrived and dragged our luggage around cash machines trying to get out enough money for our deposit. Then, tea with Mr Jinnai before finally moving into our new home. Wish we`d thought to bring towels. Had to wait until our friend Yaya could come and translate the instructions on the heating, hot water and air conditionng so that they stop barking things at us. It:s all very well having everything cleverly automated, but more than no help when you don:t understand the alphabet. I made the TV come on automatically at 5am the other day!
Lots of bureacracy and time required for home phone, internet and things like bank accounts. Slow progress.
Sumo wrestlers are now walking around in duvet type dresses, so I think I should hand over to Oli.
Grrr. I`m being forced to write against my better will. I have loads of stuff to update, was meaning to when a certain someone got us connected at home to the internet. My chores are nearly all finished. It`s rather surprising how far one can get without speaking more than a few words of the language. I promise I will backdate the blog next week as there is not so much to do then. Our first visitor arrives later today so that will be interesting. It`ll be someone to play with cause Emma`s been pushed right to the wall with work so far. We might even be able to have time and fun together next week! There`s so much to do it`s all a bit daunting. But, if we take it at our own pace, just like Kapibara-san then we will be OK. There`s no need to go running up and down towers and in and out of aquariums every ten seconds.
So. I promise next week I will start to update the blog on a twice weekly or so basis [Oli`s audience can breathe a sigh of relief -- E]. Also, when our shipping arrives we can update the photos, which some of you are keen on I understand. For now it`s off to a Y1000 lunch. Not all things are expensive, even with a painfully weak pound. Cheers George!
